White on a rott is disqualification.

Oh I think that it is his markings... good luck with the pup

Rotties have that sometimes and he's most likely still purebred, but if you want the show him the spot can't be too big. It won't affect anything but showing since this is undesirable. I used to have one :)

He is probably still purebred but you wont be able to show him in conformation since Rottweilers shouldnt have any color other then black and tan!

White hairs may stay or go. Normal, do not panic. Not a breed standard if you are going to show, but harmless for a pet.

I have seen many of that breed with the white on the chest. It is concidered as said before "undesirable" but if the dog is not for show, I wouldn't worry about it.

perfectly normal. ive seen plenty of rottweilers with this marking and more.

He can be a purebred, but may not be considered show quality (depending on how many white hairs he has...).

i have a friend that has a HUGE Rottie and he has a big white patch on his chest....he is purebred with papers and all...so yes it does sometimes happen....but if you don't have papers don't trust that he is purebred because people lie....i bought a Pomeranian that was supposedly purebred and she was 1/2 Chihuahua....she did look purebred too....

i had a 3/4 rottie pup and 1/4 husky and he had colors of the rottie but a small white spot on his chest:)

I use to breed champion quality Rotts. In our family we bred for 25 years. I did give it up though. You more them likley got your rott from a back yard breeder, how do I know this, well I would have never sent my puppies home before 8 weeks of age they need to be with mom that long to learn socialization and many othe things. This is a very good sign it was a back yard breeder. NO GOOD breeder would send thier puppies home before 8 weeks. This person just wanted thier money!!!! The white spot is a sign of poor breeding. Sorry but that is the truth of it.

With the white spot, no it will not go away and you can not show him/her.

Make sure you feed high quality canned food such as Nutro, pinnical, Avodrem and in puppy formula becuase he will need extra nutrition because it was taken from mom to soon. you may also have to mix a little hot water with the food. Please do not get your food from the grocery store!!!! Rotts are pron to skin problems and grocery store food is nothing but bad food!! Natural Balance is a great food, nutro, avoderm, Nature Recipe please this is very important if you want your dog to be healthy

Just love the dog and Please have it spayed or nuetered becuase it is only pet qualiy but still will make a great pets. Hope you did not pay to much money for it though

Did you get akc papers, if not there is no way to tell other then DNA testing which is expensive but depending on what you paid for your dog may be worth it. Rotwiellers have a history of hip displasia which increases the odds in crossbread or inbread dogs. The white hairs on his chest probally doesnt mean anything. First off there are plenty of 100% pure bread dogs that have a few mis colored hairs here or there, second he is just a puppy and his hair color will change over the first year of his life and those white hairs could disapear completely. Good luck and have fun

http://www.usrconline.org/breedstand.htm... This website will tell you the breed standards.White markings on a rottie can happen naturally, however they do not meet the breed standard...it other words he is not show quality. Still a great companion...Good luck with your pup.

he is probably purebreb, it is just his markings. Does he have papers? Did you meet both parents?

Several breeds of dogs can have markings on their chest, it is not uncommon for a purebred chocolate lab for exmaple to have a white patch on its chest. Though it is undesireable for showing.

If you have this dog as a family pet then no worries, if he was meant to be a show dog you may be out of luck with this one as missmarkings are undesireable in the show ring

Wow... good luck with your new puppy. I just learnt about this in conformation class. Rotties sometimes have a little white on them and sometimes they even have a longer coat. Both are non-showable, but are still purebred Rotts.

You picked a wonderful breed.

Also, check out the Ultimate Puppy Toolkit. When we got our Rhodesian Ridgeback back in February, the breeder gave us a copy, and it was a life saving tool. It gave us games we could play, a sure fire way to house break, guidelines for socialization and jr. obedience. All in one box set of easy to read and well illustrated books. (no i don't work for the company, i just really believe in the product!)

It even has how to deal with puppy issues.

Have fun!

Rottweilers do not have white anywhere on them -- a few white hairs could be a scar type thing but at 6 weeks (way too young to be taken from litter, BTW) that is unlikely.

Did you not get papers? That would be the for sure way to know. although accidents happen.

It is probably very normal and nothing to worry about if he is your pet and you are not going into a show ring. My concern is what kind of breeder sells a 6 week old puppy!?? No puppy should ever, ever, leave a breeder before 8 weeks old minimum. This puppy should still be with littermates. From ages 5-10 weeks is when they learn to socialize. In many states selling a puppy that young is illegal. Please get your puppy to the vet right away for a check up and for nutrition guidelines. You will probably have to supplement the diet or keep some supplies on hand in case the blood sugar goes out of balance which can happen on a pup separated from it's home too early.

Good luck!

Pefectly normal in fact "White hair is actually not uncommon in rotts, especially a few stray white hairs".

Breed standard is to have a little triangle in the middle of their chest, beyond that its normal. Mine has stray white hairs all over his body. Perfectly normal, just love you pup.

Its in the genes, though its not desireable for rott to have white (I.E. they cant be show dogs) there are tons that come out this way. In fact theres a whole new trend to pay thousands for the albino rott so...dont worry!

A rott is a great dog! If your looking for a pet to be a pet dont worry about it! A FEW WHITE HAIRS IS TO BE EXPECTED!

While white markings is a serious fault on Rotties, just a few white hairs does not count as a marking, so your dog is probably still a pure bred, and you could still show him is that is what you were planning to do.

sounds like that's just his markings. he may also outgrow the white markings
