Are italians white?

actually you american people have a misconception of med people,

for the most part the italians ive seen in america do look white,but if you come to italy, and Europe and go to meditterean countries you will see that the meds in europe look completely diffrent to the american italians,

some of meds look mulatto some look white,its the same as latins ,in the uk med people are not classed as white,dark hair dark eyes dark skin,diffrent features,we should be put in the latina catorgory,not white,(most meds look latin anyway,)

The reason why i ask this is because my girl friend is from italy, and she gets so annoyed when people speak in spanish to her. She looks spanish, but she's Italian. She has full lips, and a big sexy arab nose. But for some reason she does not consider herself white. So does none of her family members. I

That is because some are descendants from different countries.

Some have pale skin. Some have dark skin.

But they aren't white either way. They are Italian.

That's because the peoples and the descendants of the Mediterranean are different from Caucasian people,(the people up north, that most people would say white). It's also with the Spanish people too. That's why I get confused on forms when I have to fill out, am I Half Spanish/Black, or Half White/Black, or Half White-Spanish/Black?

I have also traveled through much of Southern Europe and they look white to me.

Oh I do get annoyed when people call me Hispanic because I'm definitely not. As for your original question. I don't really consider myself white because I'm from the island of Sicily and it's actually a proven fact that most Sicilians are mainly from North African descent. You can't really call Africans white now can you. So once again you Americans are stuck in Limbo as to what ethnicality to call us. I'd just call your girlfriend an Italian. Can't lose by calling her that.
