Hair stripping?

after having white blonde hair for years i decided (or was coaxed into) dying my hair brown. ive hated it from day 1 and have just been waiting for the terrible haircut to grow out and the dye to fade (dont go to sanrizz ugh).

i heard i'd have to have my hair stripped to get back to blonde because it was dyed dark brown and they had to put all the red pigments back in. is this true or would i just need pre-lightener? help?

oh and does hair stripping/ pre lightening ruin hair? as mine is damaged enough.

Hair stripping?

If your hair is already pretty damaged, stripping it will DESTROY your hair. It will break all over and you will never be able to comb it while wet or dye it again until it grows out.

The red pigment thing....no that is not true. Brown dye has red pigment and when you strip the color your hair will turn bright orange before it is stripped again and toned to blonde. You never need to put red in while stripping, getting it out is a huge task.

Your best bet would be stripping it in VERY small steps. There are some professional stripping shampoos that take out just a hint of color at a time until you are down to the brassy base, then you get that taken out.

Hair stripping?

just cut it shorttt

Hair stripping?

I went to a hair salon to get just a few dark strips in my hair and the dumb lady turned it black and charged me an arm and a leg. I didn't trust her to go back so I went to a local drug store and bought this stuff called Color Oops. Works wonders!! It will strip all the color out of your hair. it may smell weird but whatever works right? Then you buy a color you like and apply it because it will turn you hair maybe an orange depending on what color it is and was. I freaked out when my hair turned orange but you are supposed to redye right away. but just remember that you hair grabs color quicker. i didnt read that part and left a brown box on for too long and it went back to black. about 5 mins should do the trick. or just strip it and go get it done. this way your not spending 130 bucks for the stripper at a salon. I think i used the stripper 3 times and my hair did not get damaged, although i have alway had good hair.

goood luck! i hope this helps!

Hair stripping?

Well if you had white blonde for years you know what kind of damage it does but i have been fighting to get the white blonde for years and finally about 4 months ago i got it! It is true that when they re dyed it they had to put red pigments back. My hair is light black and i used to try and dye it blonde and then it would turn orange, But now i know that all it needed was a toner so what i would try to do and this is what i do to my hair every month to get the roots caught up: i use Clairol highlighter and put that on the new growth and then when it gets to light orange or yellow i put on lo real Paris los blondissimos(i think that's how you spell it) extra light ash blonde and it removes all the orange and yellow!! I think this will work for yours too even though its been re colored cause my hair is still in good shape and i hardly have any breakage and remember i do those both once a month!!!
