Are these real or synthetic hair extensions?

Ok... I am wondering if I got ripped off here...

I bought some clip in hair extensions and was told I could curl/straighten them... even die them. I curled them (both with hot rollers and a curling iron) and some of the ends burnt! Like I took a flame to the ends or something. Then, I washed them shampoo

and conditioner and they smell soooo gross, like mothballs. AND some of the hairs turned WHITE. Human hair? I think not but if so, what the heck did I do wrong?

Are these real or synthetic hair extensions?

That is real hair that you have. Synthetic hair does not get burnt at the ends. What you have is poor quality human hair and it sounds like you applied too much heat to it. Too much heat is not good for real hair. Now if the end are melted as if it were plastic , then I would say yeah, the hair is fake...But from what you have stated, it sounds like the hair is real. Either you applied too much heat and damaged it or it is not of good quality

No, those are not real hair. Real hair extensions should act just like yours. Return them immediately.

sounds like synthetic hair to me

You definitely got ripped off...i'm sorry to put it so bluntly. You need to go straight back to where you bought them and immediately have them do a return. Tell them their product is deffective and caught on fire!!!!

Are these real or synthetic hair extensions?

yay there fake

Are these real or synthetic hair extensions?

Yes, you got ripped off!!! I tried to do the same with my brother's halloween costume (it had a wig) , so i was so stupid and tried to "straighten" the "hair" with my $200 straightener, and some pieces of the hair got stuck on it!!! And the "hair" just melted on the straightener!!! Anyways, you should go back to where you got them, and demand a refund!!

there were reall you just sweced em over that's all you might have brunt them from the haet temp being to high

Are these real or synthetic hair extensions?

It sounds like that is definitely synthetic hair. Synthetic hair will burn if heat is applied to them because the are made of fibers that are...well.....synthetic...menaing NOT REAL.

Genuine human hair can have heat applied to it without causing it to burn. However, if the heat was way too high on the hot rollers or curling iron, it IS possible to burn the human hair. It sounds like synthetic hair because why did it produce a smell when you washed them and why did it turn white? My opinion is that it was synthetic hair and when you washed it the dyes started running and that caused the odor and the change in color. I would also advise you that the more you try to "save" this hair the worst it is going to get. You CANNOT revive synthetic hair. Once it is ruined that's it. Try to buy from a reputable place next time and watch what you pay for. Read the instructions carefully too. You can try www.hairinaminute.com they sell human hair and synthetic hair but at least you know what you are buying by the obvious difference in price. Hope all goes well!
